About Ubuntu Dogs

Ubuntu Dogs is a non-profit association, which we created between two people, in order to help abandoned dogs and offer them a temporary home while we find them a family. The sad reality of the relentless increase in animal abandonment impacted us deeply when we moved from the city to the village. In every corner, we observe helpless dogs that spend their days outdoors, guarding land or simply crossing our path in unfavorable conditions. We couldn't look the other way, and we picked them up and cared for them in our small country house. Thus was born the idea of creating a shelter with a larger lot, where we could provide a second chance to more dogs that need it. We reject the concept of cages, opting instead for containers adapted to ensure the comfort and protection of our canine friends. Our goal is simple: to make them feel safe and loved while they wait to find their forever home.

OUR GOALS

The Work of Ubuntu Dogs

What we have achieved so far is to have our own land of 3300 M2, fenced, with access to water and independent electricity. We have a 35m2 home where we live with the dogs. Our goal is to continue increasing the spaces for dogs and be able to accommodate up to 20-30 animals.

To do this, we plan to buy several containers and set them up as comfortable homes for the dogs, also fencing the interior of the land, creating separate areas.

We hope to use social media to find suitable families for our dogs. We also want to raise awareness about animal abandonment and create an Ubuntu community with which we can speak out and end animal abuse.

Currently, we share our shelter with several dogs. Our commitment to them and to the shelter is unwavering, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. We recognize that much remains to be done.

  • No to Cages

We opt for containers instead, to guarantee the comfort and protection of our canine friends.

  • A Safe Place

Our goal is simple: for our dogs to feel safe and loved while they wait to find their forever home.

THE UBUNTU PHILOSOPHY

What does "Ubuntu" mean?

Ubuntu is an ancient African word meaning 'humanity to others', initially originating in South Africa, focused on the loyalty of people and the relationships between them. The word comes from the Zulu and Xhosa languages. The most common precepts of the Ubuntu philosophy say that if everyone wins you also win, and that humility and empathy are essential to achieve the common good, which in the end is also your own good. .
